The evaluation framework

Good evidence.
Better questions.

Eighteen questions across six areas, built around the account action you need to protect.

We compare six products using eighteen buyer questions in six evidence areas. The framework is designed for signup, login and account-action protection. It distinguishes product scope from the outcome of an application’s policy.

What is included

The selection covers three combined device or account platforms and three focused IP services. A product needs public documentation for its collection and output, an identifiable integration path and a meaningful role in a user-protection workflow.

How to read the comparison

The table records documented capabilities and access terms. It does not collapse different product classes into one numerical score. A specialist can be the right choice when the application already supplies the other layers. An em dash or an omitted field is not proof that a capability does not exist; verify the exact product and plan with the provider.

Area 01

Network context

  1. Which VPN, proxy, relay and hosting distinctions are documented?
  2. Does the product use an IP lookup, client observations or both?
  3. How does the integration retain observation time and collection status?
Area 02

Device and browser context

  1. What entity does the identifier represent?
  2. Which integrity and automation signals are documented for each platform?
  3. What happens when the environment or available observations change?
Area 03

Account-level use

  1. How do observations link to the application’s user and action IDs?
  2. Which account-abuse events or investigation inputs are supplied?
  3. Can a genuine shared-device or changed-network case be reviewed?
Area 04

Integration and operation

  1. What collection and server verification are required?
  2. How are timeout, missing and incomplete responses handled?
  3. Are documentation, API schemas and delivery paths available?
Area 05

Access and economics

  1. Which features are actually included in the free or trial access?
  2. What are the billing unit, reset period and entry allowance?
  3. Which plan or platform conditions affect production use?
Area 06

Evidence and evaluation

  1. Can the material claim be traced to a current primary source?
  2. Can a pilot separate connection classification from account outcomes?
  3. Can the team inspect reasons and correct an incorrect restriction?

Sources, dates and commercial units

Use the linked product documentation for scope and the pricing page for access. We show monthly versus annual billing, included volume and relevant feature gates. Identifications, fraud checks, credits and daily IP queries are not treated as identical units. Sources for this release were reviewed on October 21, 2026.

Run a controlled pilot

Define the action and your known test scenarios. Include an ordinary return visit, a legitimate network change, a shared environment and the specific abuse case your team is authorized to simulate. Keep the observation time, source, request identifier, collection status and resulting account action. Separate completed checks from errors and incomplete collection.

Review prevented abusive actions alongside legitimate completion, step-up friction, appeal outcomes and investigation effort. Keep customer outcome labels separate from raw evidence so a corrected policy does not rewrite the observation history.

Editor’s Choice

ShieldLabs is the current contextual choice for teams seeking combined device, network and ready-made account-risk output with self-serve access. That designation is an editorial fit assessment. The alternatives page explains when a component-focused integration is more appropriate.
